Metaverse Tribune Website Launches

The website contains contributions from a number of writers, will champion and chart the news from several virtual world, including Second Life, Blue Mars, Twinity and Entropia Universe, amongst others. Metaverse Tribune Editor-in-Chief, Skylar Smythe is looking forward to developing the website as a primary source of virtual worlds information for enthusiasts and non-players alike. Skylar comments that, “Second Life and virtual worlds alike receive a lot of negative mainstream press and news sources like the Metaverse Tribune and other virtual worlds sites are one way in which the proud community of virtual world residents can stand up and begin to knock down the stereotypes.”

Second “Halo 3″ Mythic Map Pack Drops onto Xbox LIVE on February 2, 2010

“Halo” fans, make ready your battle rifles and prepare to step into an expanded fight on Xbox LIVE

LONDON – 20 January 2010 – Mythic 2 Map Pack, a Game Add-on developed by Bungie for “Halo 3” consisting of three multiplayer maps available previously only on the “Halo 3: ODST” multiplayer disc, is set to arrive on Xbox LIVE on February 2, 2010.

The release of the Mythic 2 Map Pack brings the total number of “Halo 3” multiplayer maps to 24. The Game Add-on includes three action-packed maps: Heretic, Citadel and Longshore.

- Heretic brings players to familiar ground as the “Halo 2” arena Midship returns in “Halo 3.” The stark interior of the Pious Inquisitor might appear austere on first glance, but Heretic’s symmetrical spaces require players to execute complex strategies in order to outplay their opponents.

Microsoft Corp. and the National Science Foundation (NSF) today announced an agreement that will offer individual researchers and research groups selected through NSF’s merit review process free access to advanced cloud computing resources. By extending the capabilities of powerful, easy-to-use PC applications via Microsoft cloud services, the program is designed to help broaden researcher capabilities, foster collaborative research communities, and accelerate scientific discovery. Kodu Game-Creation Tool for Kids Adapted for the PC

Kodu, a game that helps youngsters learn how to program so they can create their own video games to play and share, is now available on the PC.

Microsoft is pushing to bring computer programming back into the classroom – and back into the realm of the imagination.

That push comes through Kodu, a game developed by Microsoft Research that invites users to create their own worlds while teaching them the basics of game development. Originally designed as a learning tool for youngsters using Xbox 360, Kodu is now available in a public beta for the PC. The move to the PC platform stands to make the game more attractive to schools. By eliminating the need for controllers, schools don’t need any special equipment – students can start building worlds with just a PC and a keyboard.
